If my instrument is lost or damaged can I rent a substitute to keep working until I get a new one?
Yes, (Union Members Only) in the event of insured loss or damage to the musical instrument insured we will pay the extra expense to rent a substitute of like kind and value up t to $2,500, so you can continue playing.
How much coverage is there for new purchases?
On the condition that you report additional purchases within thirty (30) days, newly acquired musical instruments are automatically covered up to 25% of the total amount of your insurance schedule (Maximum $25,000) for 30 days.
Do I need appraisals?
New instruments under one year old are covered for full replacement value based on your bill of sale. Older instruments are covered for replacement cost based on valid *appraisals done within the past three years. You will be paid the actual cash value, if the equipment is not replaced. Your instruments will be valued at replacement cost, if replaced. Replacement items are to be substantially identical to what was stolen or damaged. If an item is no longer being made, a similar item that performs the same functions will be allowed.
*For instruments over one year old you need to have an appraisal to substantiate the replacement value. We recommend you have your instruments appraised for insurance replacement value (including taxes) annually. Your insurance values must be kept up to date to avoid co-insurance penalties.
What does Liability Insurance Cover?
The Commercial General Liability (CGL) coverage covers you against lawsuits arising due to bodily injury or property damage to others by your negligence. Optional Tenants Fire Legal Liability insurance covering premises you rent is also available.
When do I need Tenant’s Liability coverage?
If you are renting a venue for a performance, this insurance will protect you if you cause a fire at the venue. In addition, check your rental agreement. You may be required to carry a Comprehensive General Liability policy as well.
How do I make a claim?
It is critical that all claims be reported immediately. Failure to report a claim promptly can result in a breach of policy conditions, resulting in a lack of coverage. Important: If an item is stolen or misplaced, a police report MUST be filed. A list of all missing items needs to be included, along with serial numbers, if any. If you are not able to obtain the report immediately, please submit the police report number.
